GENERAL MANAGER
FOR DUBLIN BASED
NORTHSIDE TRAVELLER SUPPORT COMPANY
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POST
The General Manager will work with the Board of Directors and staff
team to manage, coordinate and monitor the implementation of our
annual programmes of work and the strategic plan for the company. This
is an exciting role developing and delivering on a community
development approach to promoting equality, human rights, social
justice and interculturalism with and for the Traveller community in
the North Dublin / Coolock area.
KEY TASKS
* To carry out all task’s relevant to managing the company in
keeping with good governance, legislation and funding agreements.
* To support the board of director’s in carrying out their duties
and further developing the capacity, skills and membership of the
board including preparing and producing board documents, annual
reports and board policy documents.
* To work with the company accountant to provide financial
management and oversight for all transactions, financial reports and
projected spend annually.
* To support the staff teams to implement a community development
approach and work to promote equality, human rights and
interculturalism.
* Preparation of all reports and documents for the funders and
relevant others.
* To support the board on their responsibilities as an employer in
relation to HR and day to day management of staff.
* The General manager will advocate and seek to influence policies
and systems through submissions, letters and support cases for
Traveller families in the area using a person centred and human rights
approach.
* The General Manager will be responsible for designing, developing
and delivering on the communications strategies for TravAct.
* The General Manager will develop positive working relationships
with the Traveller community across the area with the staff teams.
* To act as a representative of TravAct in participative democracy
forums/spaces representing the needs and interests of the Traveller
community.
* Developing culturally appropriate local actions in response to
crisis as they may impact on the Traveller community eg:
accommodation/homelessness.
* Working with the team to design and develop adult and community
education programmes including managing the CE scheme.
* Develop innovative initiatives with staff teams which promote
Traveller Pride, Identity, History, Culture and community events.
REPORTING:
* The General Manager will prepare monthly work reports for the
board and documents as required by funders, charity regulator and
governance documents.
* Manage and maintaining all reports, files and documents in line
with data protection and Children’s First.
* The General Manger will develop funding applications with relevant
other staff to support the overall work of the organisation.
CRITERIA:
* A relevant Third level qualification eg: Community
Development/Human Rights OR A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a
community development role / working with disadvantaged or
marginalised groups.
* Management Experience minimum of 3 years.
* Experience of carrying out person centred support work for
individuals and groups.
* Have a commitment of social justice, equality and human rights
* Experience of financial administration and financial planning.
* Good planning, organisational and administrative skills.
* Excellent communication skills including ability to produce
reports and press releases.
* Excellent interpersonal skills & teamwork including IT skills.
The General Manager will carry out any other task relevant to the role
as advised by the Project Management team.
This job is a full-time position.
The General manager will be based at TravAct offices, hybrid working
arrangement can be facilitated for part of the week.
The General manager will be compliant with good governance,
Children’s First legislation, data protection and risk management.
Must have a full clean driving license and access to a car where
TravAct is indemnified on insurance. All staff must complete Garda
Vetting and meet requirements under Children First and service level
agreements. Salary will be in line with the salary scale for TravAct.
This post is initially funded through Department of Children,
Equality, Disability, Integration and youth/National Travellers
Partnership.
